Anyone around at that time will remember that there were endless months of 100%+ sunshine. We rehearsed at Unity Hall (Wakefield) for quite a while before the tour. I think Eddie got to know Cathy (later to be his wife) around that time. I have, and will always treasure, a tape of the rehearsals at Unity Hall.

We were touring the South Coast at this time. We had converted Bessy bus into a camper van that slept eight. A McVities van was holding the gear. I drove Bessy bus and JDL drove the McVities van - when he wasn't getting a ticket for speeding!

I remember one instance, when we were bombing down some motorway in the south. JDL and Neck decided that they were hungry and made gestures accordingly. Bessy bus had all the food. A few minutes later, some cream crackers and cheese had been prepared. Travelling at over 70mph down this motorway, yours truly and JDL had to negotiate the road so that the two vehicles were within an arms length and the food could be passed across. Stop on the hard shoulder - no way. We had a gig to get to and time was of the essence.

-- What a brilliant time we all had down there --

Whilst camping at Rye, JDL and Eddie decided to bugger off to the beach. JDL somehow managed to stand on a weaver fish, which we all thought was highly amusing until he passed out - oh shit. Better take him to a hospital. There he stayed for three hours or so until he was reasonably fit to be discharged (the rest of us were indulging in beer consumption during this - callous or what !!).

Once, Charlie and Neck decided that they didn't want to be in PK's band that day. So they requested that they should travel to Brighton for the day. The 'BOSS MAN' and the rest of us humble folk agreed that this was OK. Entrusted with the McVities van (which had all the gear in), off they went - with a few shouts of "Don't loose the bloody keys". Chas and Neck arrived at Brighton. Charlie securely placed the keys in a secret pocket which was within a secret pocket, and spent a relaxing day on Brighton beach. When the time came to return, Charlie couldn't find the van keys. Total panic mode. I cannot remember how this was resolved - waiting for your input Charlie !!

We did a gig in a pub which had automatic sound 'cut-off' sensors. These removed the power to the stage. Every time Charlie played a chord the power was cut off (even shouting had the same effect) .. so we disabled the damn thing !! And what a crap gig it was. Looking at my gig book, it was the Toby House in Folkstone on July 1st.

I have a Super-8mm film of this tour - myself & JDL in one of Charlie's T-shirts. Charlie has the master video compilation tape - must get it back (though he reckons that he has lost it). Will have to put it on DVD as I still have the original acetate. Anyone out there use a machine that can convert Super-8 film to VHS video or a Quicktime format? For those in the know, I must stress that this film is very dirty.

Gygafo, which stands for Get Your Gear And F*** Off, (there is a story behind this - ask Charlie or Eddie when you see them), were well on the road to success - until PUNK arrived, and completely screwed up the whole music scene (even though I loved going to PUNK concerts - pogoing was great fun - don't you agree Pete Egg 'n Ham?).
